Notice of Deposit of Rate Books for Inspection



NOTICE OF DEPOSIT OF RATE BOOKS FOR INSPECTION

AND OF INTENTION TO MAKE A RATE

COUNTY OF SLIGO

Notice is hereby given that the County Rates have been duly made on the property rateable thereto in the County of Sligo.

The Rateable Valuation Multiplier for the ordinary expenditure of Sligo County Council for the services of the year ending on the 31st December 2017 is €66.95.   

Notice is hereby given that in accordance with Section 29 of the Local Government Reform Act 2014 the Base Year Adjustments are to be applied for the local financial year ending on the 31st of December 2017 in the following manner.

The Base Year Adjustment (BYA) in Column 2 of the table below, calculated by reference to the Annual Rate on Valuation adopted by the Local Authority at the statutory budget meeting of the 21st of November 2016 shall be applied as either a discount or levy (as the case may be) to rates bills to be issued to ratepayers in the specified area identified in Column 1 of the table below:-

The Rate Books are now in my custody and may be inspected by any person affected thereby at the offices of Sligo County Council, County Hall, Riverside, Sligo between the hours of 10.00 am and 4.00 pm exclusive of Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays; the said rates will be payable from and after the publication of this notice.

Under Section 7(1) of the Local Government (Financial Provision) Act 1978 any person who is aggrieved at the failure of the rating authority to make him an allowance under the Act or who believes that he is entitled to a different allowance to that made to him may, within 2 months of the date of making of the rate, request the rating authority in writing to grant the appropriate allowance.  In case the request is not complied with within 28 days the person may, within 4 months of the date of the making of the rate, apply to the District Court to have the appropriate allowance made.

The above rates were made on the 2nd of February 2017.

Any request in respect of them under Section 7(1) of the Local Government (Financial Provisions) Act 1978 must thereof be made to Sligo County Council not later than the 2nd of April 2017.

Any application to the District Court under the same provision must be made not later than the 2nd of June 2017.
