Road and Traffic Report W/C 30th January, 2017

Road Signage Works

  • Works will continue on The R297 and R298 between Dromore West and Enniscrone
  • Location of KN gangs - gangs will be in the Pearse Road and Devins Drive

  

Sligo Town

  • N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Project

    House Demolition works are taking place on the N4 Sligo/Dublin road north of the N4/N17 roundabout in the townlands of Toberbride, Mullaghnabreena and Ardcurley. Works will consist of
    • The demolition of a number of dwelling houses
    • Fencing and site security
    The works are expected to be ongoing for the next month during which time extensive traffic management systems will be in operation. The hard shoulders of the N4 shall be closed to traffic. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution through the works.   
      
  • N4 Dual Carriageway

    Maintenance works will commence on the N4 Sligo - Collooney dual carriageway on Monday 30thJanuary 2017.  Works will consist of:
    • Grass cutting and the cleaning of concrete drainage channels along the edge of the dual carriageway (Hardshoulder and Central Median) from Summerhill Roundabout to Carrowroe Interchange.

    It is anticipated that the works will last approximately 1 week, during which time extensive traffic management systems will be in operation.  The dual carriageway will be reduced to a single lane for much of this time.  Motorists are urged to proceed with caution through the works.  
      
  • Surface water drainage works to take place on Local Road L-7403, Barnarobin, Drumcliffe commencing Monday 30th January. Traffic management will be in operation. Motorists should exercise caution
  • Hoarding has been erected at the corner of Lord Edward Street and Union Street. Provision has been made for pedestrian access and works are expected to last several weeks.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.
  • Works are ongoing on the installation of a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Chapel Street and Chapel Hill.  These are expected to last for 3 weeks. Minimal traffic disruption expected.
  • Works are continuing on the pedestrian avenue linking the estate of Tracey Avenue to the Strandhill Road. The works will involve the provision of public lighting on the pedestrian avenue and the resurfacing of the pavement. The work is to facilitate the safety of Pedestrians. The pedestrian avenue will be closed for the duration of the week.
  • A Scaffolding licence has been granted for Connolly Street, Sligo. Works are expected to last 2 weeks. Minimal traffic disruption expected.
  • A Scaffolding licence has been granted for 31-32 Temple Street, Sligo. Works are expected to last 2 weeks. Minimal traffic disruption expected.
  • Ongoing Road Openings to take place at various locations over the coming weeks due to broadband upgrade.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

  

Enniscrone Area

  • Drainage works will be carried out on the R297 at Quigaboy/Leaffony. Traffic lights will be in operation. Minor delays expected.
  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

  

Tubbercurry Area

  • Pipelaying works will continue on the R296Traffic Management including traffic lights will be in place for the duration of the works.  Works are expected to last 3-4 weeks.  Minor delays can be expected.
  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
  • Storm water maintenance works will continue on the R294 and other local primary roads in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
